Rosie is a designer, illustrator and researcher who is passionate about the affordances of user-led design and considerate information design.
After studying Fine Art, Painting and Printmaking at Sheffield Hallam University, Rosie worked as a notetaker and communication support worker for FE and HE students with low vision or hearing. In the interim, she undertook the Communication Art & Design MA at the RCA, sparking her interest in the intersection between art, illustration, graphic design and typography.
Following a commission by artist Amy Feneck to design a publication documenting her ‘running performance’ works, Rosie submitted a proposal to undertake doctoral research at the University of Reading’s department of Typography & Graphic Communication (awarded 2017). The project applied the principles and practices of information design to the challenge of producing print documentation of past live works, and explored design solutions that might better support the desires, needs and preferences of postgraduate live art student researchers.
Rosie joined the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design as a Research Associate within the Healthcare research space in May 2018. She is contributing to the ‘Preserving Antibiotics through Safe Stewardship’ (PASS) Project; an ESRC-funded collaborative, multidisciplinary project between the University of Central London, the University of Leicester, and the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design.
