  • Naori Priestly’s Statement

The kitchen is the heart of the home, the stage on which the dramas of family life unfold. I don't believe the concept of the kitchen promoted by Mrs Beeton - the traditional, idealised notion of the home is an illusion.

My work reflects the impossibility of this ideal, the dysfunctional, darker side, the domain of the anti-domestic goddess. I want my audience to get lost in my world - be it a nightmare, a daydream or a parallel universe. I use traditional domestic craft skills along with digital textile technologies.

My world is available for commission or for exhibition.
