The Research Office is responsible for managing, coordinating and monitoring all aspects of RCA staff and student research, convening the Research Methods Course for students and providing an extensive training programme for staff.
The office is responsible for all aspects of RCA staff and student
research, including cross-College research policy and strategy, funding
and recruitment initiatives, as well as support and development of
practice-based research.
All research student activities are coordinated and monitored by the
Research Office, including the selection, admission, induction,
training, supervisory arrangements and interim review of progress of
research students. For more information about student research, see
Staff and Student Research Community.
All members of the academic staff at the College are expected to engage in research calculated
to advance and underpin the subject that they teach and to make public
the results of that research. The Research Committee monitors the
quality and quantity of the research being carried out by each member
of staff and ensures that deadlines are met. The Research Committee
ensures that research conducted at the RCA does not breach the
College’s Research Ethics Code of Practice. The Staff Committee, in
consultation with the Research Committee, decides upon the allocation
of days released from College activities to enhance the research of
individual members of staff.
