    Current and Recent Research Projects

  • Summary of Research Field

The driving force of my research is the development of my studio based practice in ceramics which has itsoutcomes in regular exhibitions. I am also involved in critical writing, authored reviews and introductory texts for exhibition catalogues. The preoccupation in my work continues to be the blurring of boundaries between ceramics and sculpture. I am interested to find out when a ‘pot’ might cross the line to be understood as sculpture. Having previously been concerned with describing the nature of enclosed abstract form, my recent focus has been to do with ‘open forms’ or the ‘pot’ – looking at ways to create voluminous form and optical surface pattern. The context in which my work is both made and shown is part of my inquiry and I continue to explore and experiment with how and where I make the work and the impact this has on the outcome of the object.
