Workshops might happen in your classroom, at the Royal College of Art or somewhere else in London. You may look at an exhibition; take part in a practical workshop (this could be messy so don’t wear your best clothes); or work in class time on a longer project.
You will spend time making stuff on your own and in a group and we will encourage you to be independent. Discussion is an important part of being creative so we want to hear what you really think and feel, whether you are a loud or quiet person.
All the work you make will help toward your sketchbooks or portfolio back in school, and you will come away with new skills and ideas. Most of all we want you to make something you are proud of, and feel inspired after your workshop to keep being creative – and to have fun!
“The best thing about the workshop was being allowed to make such a mess and it looking so good at the end, it has inspired me to make a mess more often!”
Marie, School pupil
Your workshop will be led by an RCA student, or graduate. They will be able to tell you how they became an artist, designer or maker and what choices they made in school and life to achieve their goals. They are not teachers, but are here to show you their personal approach to art and design and will want you to ask them questions and get involved in lots of making activities.
The RCA Summer graduate show happens every year, and is free and open to the public. It is a chance to see the art, craft and design stars of the future. You can come here on your own or with friends or family. Find out about it here.
