In 2007 the College began a complete refurbishment of its existing Sculpture Building on Howie Street. The building was officially opened in January 2009 by sculptor Antony Gormley, who praised it for its space and light.
Across the road from Sculpture, the Sackler Building for Painting opened in November 2009. This fantastic studio accommodation provides space for sixty students and was acknowledged with a RIBA award in 2010.
The Dyson Building was completed in 2012 and when Printmaking and Photography moved into the new building it united the entire School of Fine Art for the first time in the College's history. The building is also home to InnovationRCA, the College's knowledge transfer unit that provides incubation services to turn design-led ventures into profitable and investable businesses.
The year 2013 marks the beginning of the final phase - construction of the Sir Po-Shing and Lady Woo Department of Applied Art, which will be complete for the start of the 2015/16 academic year. Through generous support from philanthropists Sir Po-Shing and Lady Woo, this new building will house state-of-the-art studios, technical facilities and teaching staff for our renowned Ceramics & Glass and Goldsmithing, Silversmithing and Metalwork & Jewellery programmes. It will also provide much needed interdisciplinary project space for students in other fields.
