  • Students should have a good first degree in an arts or humanities subject. We welcome applications from students of all ages and view both prior academic and professional experience as being valuable. When interviewing, we give careful consideration to both the candidate and the subject being proposed.

Research students need to put forward a detailed outline proposal using the criteria outlined in the application form. The subject should be related to the interests of the programme. Please familiarise yourself with the ethos and work of the programme and the short staff biographies in the Programme Research section of the website, to understand the range of expertise available.

If your research topic fits, please submit a research proposal to the Administrator by 16 January 2012 that addresses:
    • Why the proposed research should be carried out in Curating Contemporary Art, making references to specific staff and student projects if appropriate.
    • What its contribution to the field of curating will be, and who will find it of value.
    • How it relates to, and builds upon, prior work in the proposed field of study.
    • Possible research methodologies.

If applying for an MPhil/PhD by project, please include an outline of the proposed project and information about relevant professional experience.

On receiving your proposal in January, if the project fits within the programme’s research interests you will be encouraged to develop it further and submit a formal application. Interviews will be in March or April. If successful, you will be offered a place in May or June to begin study in October.
