    Biography

    Course tutor in Critical Studies for the MA Curating Contemporary Art, teaching 'The European Imaginary and its Others'. Jean studied Zoology and Fine Art at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, and became a freelance writer on issues of contemporary art practice and the multicultural debate. She has written extensively on the work of Susan Hiller, James Coleman, Willie Doherty, Gabriel Orozco and others. She is the former editor of Third Text; editor of the selected writings of Jimmie Durham and Lee Ufan; and the editor of three anthologies, Global Visions: towards a new Iinternationalism in the visula arts (Kala Press, 1994);Reveberations: Tactics of Resistance, Forms of Agency (Jan Van Eyck, 2000); Over Here: International Perspectives on Art and Culture (MIT Press, 2005, with Gerardo Mosquera). She is currently Research Associate at Middlesex University, and Research Fellow at the Jan van Eyck Akademie, Maastricht.
