Since the development of artificial lighting, night-time activity has contributed to the fabric of society and become a significant part of our city’s economy. My research this year has investigated Sleepfarers, individuals for whom the nocturnal offers engaging and varied opportunities for employment and entertainment. Using my thorough investigation of the user as a catalyst for design, I have explored how an overnight radio station acting as an architectural hub can help sustain a nocturnal lifestyle and promote a tribal identity in Hackney.
