The sprawling urban metropolis and its connected suburbia, it could be argued, have facilitated the malnutrition of a sense, spirit, awareness and poignant stewardship of community, leading to its diminished presence, cohesiveness and impact.
The local council has instead become the manifest arbiter of our locality; and the false efficiency of grandiose policy has neglected and removed from us the ability to directly and effectively audit, affect and enliven our places.
Community Facility is an independent council-supported catalyst to address this problem, layering another dimension onto the authorities’ provision, acknowledging the necessity and value of alternative services and visions of community outside the insipid and conventional.
