15 January 2013: The RCA/Outset Visual Cultures Lecture Series – Elmgreen and Dragset
The fourth lecture in this series supported by the Outset Contemporary Art Fund is by Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset. Based in Berlin and London, they have worked together as an artist duo since 1995. Drawing from disciplines as institutional critique, performance and architecture, in their sculptures and installations they reconfigure the familiar and prompt a re-thinking of the status quo. Their winning Fourth Plinth Commission
Powerless Structures, Fig. 101 – depicting a child astride his rocking horse – is currently on view in Trafalgar Square, London.

19 February 2013: The RCA/Outset Visual Cultures Lecture Series – Sissel Tolaas
The fifth lecture in this series supported by the Outset Contemporary Art Fund is by Sissel Tolaas, who has dedicated her life to something we all take for granted: the sense of smell. Obsessively researching and exploring our most primal and yet unnoticed sense in all its facets, Tolaas has shared her research in many ways: from research projects with hospitals and institutions such as MIT or Harvard, to commercial projects for the likes of Adidas, Comme des Garçons and Louis Vuitton, to art exhibitions at the MoMA New York or the Third Berlin Biennial.

12 March 2013: The RCA/Outset Visual Cultures Lecture Series – Tomas Saraceno
The final lecture in this series supported by the Outset Contemporary Art Fund is by Argentinian artist Tomas Saraceno. In recent years Saraceno has experimented with suspended environments that are constructed from multiple helium-filled transparent balloons. One of his ongoing projects
Air-Port-City envisions networks of habitable platforms that float in the air creating an aerial city, which is in constant physical transformation.
