This project looks at the communication in the family unit as a way to connect emotionally young children to their parents. As parents, we care about our children and wish for their happiness and wellbeing. Yet many times, children may have emotional distress we are not aware of, and that they feel they cannot express directly to others. This happens on many occasions in families who have special needs children along with typically developing children. How can we help encourage them to share thoughts and feelings, even their dark ones? Can this be done through an indirect, playful way that encourages family interaction at the same time?
