School-wide
Alessio is a forward-thinking designer, educator, and researcher who is committed to creating sustainable and equitable future systems by using strategic design and business interventions.
As a school-wide tutor, Alessio teaches in AcrossRCA, Grand Challenge, and MDes Design Futures. He holds a PhD in Circular Design from the University Iuav of Venice. During his studies, he focused on developing a tool (www.circulardesign.it) that enables product and business designers to effectively manage complexity and achieve multiple product life cycles.
He has conducted research in universities worldwide, including California Polytechnic State University (CA, US), Rochester Institute of Technology (NY, US - Fulbright Scholarship), Technical University of Delft (NL), Brunel University London (UK - ERASMUS+), and Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University (TR - ERASMUS).

Research Interests
Alessio’s research delves into circular design and business model innovation, focusing on creating sustainable systems and interventions. His work spans from theoretical frameworks for circular design to practical solutions like decentralised water harvesting and circular product design strategies. His studies address the transition to a circular economy, examining smart fashion economies, circular bike-sharing systems, and co-creating sociotechnical visions for circular metal economies.
In addition, as the Agenda Manager for the Circular Design Forum, he collaborates with a variety of European businesses to promote the transition to a circular economy.
Practice
Previously, Alessio held the position of Research Fellow at Brunel University London, where he contributed to The Interdisciplinary Centre for Circular Metals (CircularMetal project). This initiative is one of five centres supported by UKRI's National Interdisciplinary Circular Economy Research (NICER) program. Prior to this, he served as a Research Fellow at École des Ponts Business School in Paris (FR).
Alessio also brings a wealth of industrial design experience, having worked for many years with both large and small companies in Italy.
