Aleya James is Tutor in Art and Design Academic Skills (ADAS) on the Art & Design Graduate Diploma.
Aleya graduated with an MA in Teaching English from the University of Reading and a Doctorate of Education from the University of Bath. She has spent much of her working life in higher education in the Middle East across Egypt, Oman and the UAE.
Her research and writing practice reside at the intersection of public pedagogy and cultural studies. Her doctoral research situated Emirati women’s students’ experiences of Dubai’s quotidian, using embodied geographies and affective practices.

Research Interests
Aleya's research projects include an investigation into the capacity of a psychogeographic methodology to create intercultural collaboration in a hybrid synchronous teaching space; and an exploration of the use of notes as an interstitial space in the enactment of creativity.
