Mijke works in various collaborations and collectives on transfeminism and cultural theory, and has an arts practice in media and performance.
Mijke is, together with Matt Lewis, contact for the School Wide Unit in the School of Communication. In 2022–23 the Unit is titled Making Worlds with Others
Mijke is a Tutor for our MA Animation and MA Visual Communication.
Prior to joining the RCA, Mijke has worked as theory lead for the MA non-linear Narrative at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague.

Research Interests
Mijke van der Drift researches Ethics, anti-colonial Epistemology, Transfeminism and relational philosophies of movement.
Their co-authored book with Nat Raha Trans Femme Futures: Abolitionist Ethics for Transfeminist Worlds is coming out in November 2024 with Pluto Press.
Mijke has published in Social Text, Journal for Speculative Philosophy, Journal for Aesthetics and Culture, and in edited volumes for Cambridge UP and Routledge.
Practice
Mijke is a founder member of Red Forest, together with Diana McCarty, David Muñoz Alcántara, and Oleksiy Radinsky. Red Forest made in 2021 Sambatas Stagings in Kyiv, and curated in 2022 the German Pavilion at the 23rd Milano Triennale, and in 2023 contributed to the Helsinki Biennale. Red Forest is supported in 2023-2025 by the Kone Foundation, Finland for their research “Energy-Matters in the context of war. Neo-extractivism, fossil fascism, and the post-national question."
