The MA Interior Design Inside/Out Lecture Series is proud to present its fourth lecture with guest speaker Clare Farrow on 27 March 2025.

Join Clare Farrow as she discusses the material philosophies behind her work, involving experimentation with memory, light, shelter, sustainability and transformation. This lecture will analyse a range of interior and architectural spaces through a material and technological lens culminating in an exclusive preview of her upcoming Japan Pavilion, ‘Paper Clouds: Materiality in Empty Space’ for London Design Biennale 2025. Created in collaboration with SEKISUI HOUSE - KUMA LAB and Midori Komachi, this project brings together architecture, music and fashion through a single ancient material, proposing a new vision of strength and flexibility in an increasingly unstable future. Clare’s most recent work aims to reimagine traditional materials and craft in the context of today’s modern digital technologies to produce less resource demanding materials without compromising on its ability to engage with all the senses.

An acclaimed interdisciplinary curator and writer, Clare Farrow works with leading and emerging architects and artists, such as Kengo Kuma, Shigeru Ban, Arup among others, to explore materials for high-profile exhibitions and installations. Clare has also led an extensive list of overwhelmingly successful exhibitions around Europe, including shows at Roca London & Barcelona, the V&A, London Design Biennale and Milan Design Week. Clare’s written and curatorial work has also been featured in the Financial Times, Dezeen, Parkett, Blueprint, The Monocle, Never Too Small, and many other platforms.

Inside/Out is a student-led curation of in-person lectures featuring esteemed leaders of the design industry. The series dissects and critically discusses the technologies that are reshaping the field today and in the future.

Tickets are free and available in limited supply on a first come, first served basis. Please register your attendance via the Eventbrite link.
