This November, the leading character design conference from Berlin heads to London for a dense 1-day programme of featured artist lectures, animation screenings and opportunities to connect with a local community of character experts and enthusiasts.
Hosted in the our Gorvy Lecture Theatre at RCA Battersea, this one-day event promises to deliver an inspiring deep dive into the creative worlds of leading talent and is an incentive to connect the vibrant scene of character creators from London.
Speakers include RCA alumni Ed Barrett and Tom Judd, founders of animation and design studio Animade; illustrator Aysha Tengiz, whose playful characters populate colourful worlds for a wide range of clients; Eva Münnich: London-based animator and ceramic artist, known for her quirky characters brought to life through both digital and physical mediums; Fx Goby: acclaimed director at Nexus Studios, recognised for his award-winning work across animation, live-action, and immersive experiences, including projects for the BBC and Gorillaz; Damselfrau: Norwegian-born, London-based artist, whose creations transform masks into narrative-driven works of art, often using unique materials; and Murugiah: multi-disciplinary British-Sri Lankan artist, illustrator and designer using a colourful, surreal visual aesthetic to explore the macabre, bittersweet and joyful experience of his daily life and identity.
The event also features a curated screening of animated short films selected from the official programme of the 20th Pictoplasma Conference earlier this year in Berlin. Creative activities keep attendees busy in the breaks and networking sessions provide further chances for meaningful engagement with the character design industries from London.
