An independent report by Beauhurst and Parkwalk Advisors looking into Equity Investment into UK Spin-outs published in February 2020 concluded that InnovationRCA came in third in terms of number of deals secured by its spinouts in 2019, behind only Oxford and Cambridge. The report also highlighted that InnovationRCA has the largest number of active spin-outs of any UK university incubator.
The statistics are a testament to InnovationRCA’s enduring success, and demonstrate the strength of the design-led, user-centred innovation and entrepreneurship approach that lies at the heart of InnovationRCA’s operation as a factory of ideas that are incubated into successful businesses.
The report also highlights the continued need for greater support and funding to innovative UK companies at the scale-up stage. These often are forced to turn to international rivals or are sold to international acquirers, with a corresponding loss of knowledge, skillset and revenue to the UK. This is a need that InnovationRCA recognised and responded to by launching its First50 scale-up programme in 2019.
