A leading figure in the media and creative industries, Sir Peter Bazalgette has become a non-executive board member of the Department for Education (DfE).

The RCA Pro-Chancellor & Chair of Council joins the Board of the UK government’s Department for Education, where he will advise on strategy, operations and deliverability of policy for the department alongside other expert executive and non-executive members.
An expert leader in and advocate for the creative industries, Sir Peter has previously led the landmark Independent Review of the Creative Industries commissioned by the government, which has shaped the creative industries policy landscape over the past few years.
Sir Peter Bazalgette joined the Royal College of Art Council in October 2021, before taking up the role of Chair in March 2022, and was previously Chair of Arts Council England, non-executive board member of UK Research and Innovation, non-executive director of the Department of Culture, Media and Sport, President of the Royal Television Society and Deputy Chair of the graduate National Film and Television School. He also serves as Chair of ITV until September 2022.
