It is with great sadness that the Royal College of Art has learnt of the death of Virgil Abloh.
Virgil was an incredible ambassador for the RCA. The College is honoured to have had Virgil join our community as a Visiting Professor, as a champion for the importance of education and equality of opportunity in creative industries.
'He believed that innovative and radical thinking needs to happen in the world we want our ideas to live in, which resonated so much with our own ethos at the College. I couldn’t put it better than his own team, in saying that Virgil was dedicated to opening doors for others and worked tirelessly to forge pathways for greater equality in Art & Design.'
Helen Protheroe, Director, Development & Alumni Relations
'He was a brilliant and passionate creative who was unfailingly curious and optimistic. As a master of his craft, he shared his experience and expertise with a wonderful generosity and kindness that made him a remarkable teacher.'
Friend, Sir Jony Ive, Chancellor
Virgil’s legacy will continue to have a positive impact on future generations of creative individuals. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues at this time.
