Inclusive AI

This research strand explores how Artificial Intelligence can be designed and used in a way that is inclusive for all.

As the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) continues at an increasingly rapid rate, we are at a critical junction for its evolution. Building inclusive AI is integral to ensuring that it benefits all. This research strand explores the entire process of AI, from design and development to deployment. It seeks to understand how AI can be leveraged for the betterment of society, and allow people to flourish regardless of their ability, age, gender or race.

Within this strand, we are bringing together diverse stakeholders to help evolve the discourse.  We are running a series of Inclusive AI forums, in collaboration with TCS Pace Port London, that bring together leaders from across industry, academia, design to art to begin defining new opportunities within AI in regards to inclusion and  pan-industry and pan-academic collaborations.

Activations

Our series of Inclusive AI forums, in collaboration with TCS Pace Port, bring together a curated group of stakeholders from across disciplines and sectors to discuss the most pertinent questions surrounding inclusive AI.

We were delighted to host Dr Xi Zeng for a talk at the RCA, which called for the creation of AI systems that are organic, empathetic and align with ethical considerations. He discussed a transformative approach to AI design and shared three essential principles to make AI systems ethical and inclusive.

Dr Xeng was recognised by Forbes China as one of their Top 10 Designers in 2022.
