More about Kamil Hilmi
Biography
Kamil holds a degree in Architecture from the University of Westminster, a Master’s degree in Robotics from King's College London and a Master’s degree in Architecture from the Royal College of Art. He is currently studying for a PhD in Architecture at the RCA, focusing on the Architecture of Law in the context of the migrant crisis.
Experience
Alongside his teaching at the RCA, Kamil practices as an architect, designer and fabricator – most notably with Studio Fuksas in Rome (Italy) and Balmond Studio in London (UK) - working closely as a consultant and designer with engineers, architects, designers and artists.
Projects and exhibitions Kamil has worked on include; Edipo e Medea scenography for the Greek theater of Syracuse in Sicily (2009), EUR Congress Centre in Rome, Italy (2010), French National Archives in Paris, France (2013), all with Studio Fuksas, Designing With Nature exhibition in collaboration with Exploration Architecture at the Architecture Foundation (2014), Equilibrium exhibition at the Ferragamo Museum in Florence with Balmond Studio (2014), Secular Cosmologies for the After Belonging exhibition at DOGA Oslo Triennale (2016), ‘Climate Crimes’ for the Future Starts Here exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum (2018).
More recently, Kamil was part of the curatorial and production team of the inaugural Sharjah Architecture Triennial (2019), Sharjah (UAE).
