Maria is interested in the relations of knowledge and power imbued in work and its social capacities. Her work focuses on Silicon Valley and Northern California as the locus of a series of cultural, aesthetic, and most critically formal crystallizations associated with a form of production that has transcended its original commodity and now permeates all work, all life, all the time.
A primary concern of her work is the subjectification processes of knowledge work and its activities problematic similarity to leisure, pleasure, and self-edification.

Biography
She is a practicing architect, tutor, and researcher. Her work looks at the architectural form of knowledge work and the Californian ‘Tech’ Headquarter as its finest paradigm.
At the RCA, she is a studio tutor at ADS0 led by Steve Salembier (Atelier Bildraum). She is alsi an Associate Partner at Foster + Partners. She works in the seam of corporate and academic practice, a challenging position that she navigates in search for agency.
