“What is Design?” Redesigning Design in response to a changing world.
Beyond Design’s traditional remit of creating fashion, textiles and products, we also innovate and design services, policies, and systems.
As a learning community, we recognise the importance of design resilience and the harm that design has done in promoting unsustainable consumption, pollution and waste.
We are addressing this by taking greater responsibility for our impact on humanity, technologies and the planet, breaking ground in environmental research. We are working collaboratively with students to understand global challenges and speculate 20, 50 or even 200 years ahead.
Students joining the School of Design will have the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of design graduates forming new businesses, setting up consultancies and securing roles with prestigious organisations, and making a positive impact in their chosen fields.
