What is a Convention de Stage?

A Convention de Stage is a formal internship agreement required in many countries, (primarily in France and Spain), for students undertaking an internship. It is a three-way contract between the student, the employer (host company), and the RCA.

Who can request a Convention de Stage?

To request a Convention de Stage, you must be a registered student at the RCA. We regret that we cannot provide these agreements for graduates.

If you are a registered student, and you need a Convention de Stage, you should use use the RCA’s standard template for these agreements.

If your employer requires you to use their version of the agreement, the process will take longer to complete. This is because they will need to consult legal counsel to ensure that neither the RCA nor you are disadvantaged or compromised in any way.

Either way, you should request your Convention de Stage well in advance of any placement to ensure it does not delay the start of your internship.

Insurance and visas

  • The agreement does not cover your insurance. You are advised to arrange comprehensive insurance coverage (medical, civil liability and accident) covering the entire duration of your internship.
  • You must ensure you have a valid Visa in place prior to the start of your internship.
